BLOODHOUND SSC eNewsletter Bloodhound SSC at Autosports International 2012 Last month, we showed you some parts that had been delivered for the APU rocket fuel pump gearbox. Engineers James Painter and David Pollock assembled all the parts and took the gearbox to the Autosports International Show at the National Exhibition Centre on the 14th and 15th January. You can see the assembled gearbox below and all the Product Sponsors who helped make it possible! Also on display was a mock-up of the canopy - this was built recently to check out the access and visibility before making the final canopy out of carbon composites - see picture right. The major announcement at the Show was made by driver Andy Green and Commercial and Product Sponsorship Lead Conor La Grue. The cream of UK motorsport engineering companies are being invited to take part in our unique global project, and showcase their expertise by manufacturing around 3,000 bespoke components needed over the next 12 months to complete the world's ultimate racing car. We aim to not only inspire the next generation of engineers, mathematicians and scientists but also promote UK manufacturing by inviting the best engineering businesses to help build the most powerful and complex land vehicle ever devised. You can see the Press Release on our website, and a list of components requiring either final design and / or manufacture on the Motorsport Industry Association’s website (www.the-mia.com/Supply-BLOODHOUND-SSC).
